In the early days the Romans used their chariot wheels to gamble, they would turn their chariots to the side and spin the wheel, they would bet on which spoke would come up facing you. In 1842 the European version with a zero in place came out and the American version of the game came out with two zeros and just twenty eight numbers in the 1900s.

There is a rather interesting legend attached with this game. According to the legend a man named Francois Blanc made a supposed deal with the devil himself in order to learn the underlying secrets of the game. The interesting part of the legend is that it claims to be supported by the fact that the sum of the numbers from one to thirty six adds up to six hundred and sixty six. (666) which is infact the devils own number. According to another story the game roulette received its name from an already existing French game.

People are enchanted by this game and its rather mystifying history. A scene of Roulette that I shall never forget is the one in Casablanca; it will forever remain etched in my mind.
